The terms polysentientism and poly-sentientism can be used interchangeably; however, polysentientism is the formal reference to the System.

What is Polysentientism?

Polysentientism is simply the belief system in which sentience has multiple origins (as opposed to a single origin of the nervous system). This belief system is often contained, though not explicitly, within other less-general belief systems (such as Jainism) and scientific theories (such as M-theory). Analysis: Introduction of the Financial Stability Plan by Secretary Geithner, Pt 1

Author’s Note: This essay is an analysis of the Treasury Secretary’s Speech delivered on February 10, 2009. The full transcript is available here. I encourage everyone to read it in its entirety. I have chosen to examine Geithner’s speech on this issue rather than President Obama’s own words in order to avoid accusations of unfairly criticizing a man who admittedly is not an expert in financial matters. On the topic of the Financial Crisis/Stability Plan President Obama simply plays the role of Lenin’s “Useful Idiot”. (Or the role of Orwell’s sheep in Animal Farm). Geithner, however, plays a much more sinister, but no less pathetic, role; Secretary Geithner’s words are deeply rooted in deceit and hidden agendas rather than ignorance. (Characterized by Orwell’s Squealer). Furthermore and more importantly, Secretary Geithner’s existence transcends any partisan origin. Any discussion (or mention) of Democrat/Republican or Left/Right politics clouds the issue at hand. Politicians are what they are…nothing...their power is imaginary.

At its core, Geithner’s statement is simply an example of the “Begging the Question” fallacy. This example is made more complex by a series of embedded BtQ fallacies and strawmen; not to mention factual inaccuracies. However, this essay is not concerned with the factual accuracy of Geithner’s various words, rather the structure of his statement. All facts cited by Geithner will be assumed to be true. His fatal flaw lies in the unsound and invalid logic of the entire statement. The result is anything but coherent. Based on the Secretary’s logic, the plan necessarily cannot succeed.

Let’s start with Geithner’s framing of the cause→problem→solution. The cause was a “credit boom” followed by the problem of tightening of credit, resulting in the inability of many parties to get needed credit. The solution is for the government to provide credit that the market is not willing to provide. So, essentially lack-of-credit (problem) fixed by non-lack-of-credit (solution). This argument takes the form of: A is true. Therefore not A is not true. This illustrates a begging the question fallacy; the truth of the conclusion is assumed in the premise. The Secretary’s main premise (of the plan) rests on this fallacy, demonstrated with his statement: “The credit markets that are essential for small businesses and consumers are not working.” Meaning, Geithner identifies the tightening/freezing of credit as a non-functioning credit market. Tragically, this misstep undermines the structure of the entire statement. The government’s key to fixing the economic crisis is to restore the flow of credit.

Next, Geithner describes five principals that will shape the government strategy. Keep in mind that these principals are all based on the flawed premise described above, so they are all very weak. Let’s examine a few of this in detail. The first in its entirety states: “We believe that the policy response has to be comprehensive, and forceful. There is more risk and greater cost in gradualism than in aggressive action.” This, of course, is a false dilemma. The dilemma presented, gradualism v. aggressive action, distorts the actu….. I’m going to stop writing at this point as the rest of my analysis seems redundant. The Secretary’s speech illustrates the point-of-view that the economic crisis can only be solved by government action. This underscores the actual problem that the irrational Keynesian view of economics saturates nearly all politicians, left and right, and all mainstream economists.

The Inconvenient Penguin

MSNBC Discovers Penguins in the Arctic......In its latest global warming propaganda piece, MSNBC (NBC) has been caught with its pants down. The all-to-evident adgenda of NBC was exposed in a segment featuring a teen's journey through the Arctic...with recycled video footage featuring penguins. Perhaps most embarrassing for the network was a demonstrated lack of basic ecological knowledge from so-called environmentalists. In addition to the apparent discovery of penguins at the North Pole, the propaganda piece was laced with other video footage of locations in the Southern Hemisphere. Surprisingly, the staff couldn't find any footage of Santa's Workshop collapsing into the sea due to global warming. The video can be seen in its entirety here .

Here we are on August 16th, 2006. Those of us lucky enough to still be alive are witnessing a very sick world sink to a new depth. Fortunately, the senseless deaths of innocent civilians Israel and Iran’s vast human shield (the nation of Lebanon) have temporarily come to a halt. Much of the world has reason to celebrate. Victory has been achieved over the State of Israel. A great victory has been achieved over the people of Israel; Jew and Arab alike; practitioners of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Much of the world believes that Israel does not have the right to exist. For that matter, what country does have a right to exist? How is this alleged right determined? The major media outlets, both internationally and in America, tell Americans on a daily basis that the government of the United States’ existence as Israel’s lone supporter and ally is wrong because the rest of the world disagrees. Few American politicians remain who offer anything but tacit support for Israel. Only the faceless, soulless government-military complex, driven by market forces and profit, keeps Israel armed and thus able to defend herself in a vast wasteland called Earth. Able to defend herself against the archaic Radical Islamic movement led by the charismatic Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and against the Enlightened Relativists who paradoxically condemn her.

Yes, the Radical Islamic movement has declared victory against the West, and the world, led by the morally superior United Nations and the equally untouchable international media, has handed it to them on a silver platter.

A ceasefire has been declared in the war between Iran and Israel. Israel will now bow to international pressure and withdraw from Southern Lebanon. This is being done with the UN backed assertion that the Lebanese army and a UN force would disarm Hezbollah. This all bares a striking resemblance to what happened in the summer of 2000 when Israel withdrew from Southern Lebanon amidst UN assertions that Hezbollah would be disarmed. Instead Iran’s virtual occupation of Lebanon expanded with Hezbollah taking a greater political and civic role while rearming and increasing its military hold on Southern Lebanon, all under the watchful eye of United Nations observers. The cessation of hostilities in 2006 without the complete abolition of Hezbollah or even open acknowledgement of Iran’s role by the peace brokers, will no doubt lead to more violence in the future.

Is the international community really deaf to the declarations of victory by Iran and blind to the rearmament of Hezbollah that continues this very minute? No. “Well,” the chorus responds, “the US is arming Israel, so it is only fair!” It is clear that the true aim of the so-called peace brokers is the destruction of Israel. Why are these motives, so clear to the open ear and eye, kept hidden? Ahmadinejad and his followers simultaneously shout these hidden hopes and goals from the rooftops; yet many still pretend not to hear? This cessation of violence will only continue until reality rears its head again as it did in July of 2006…

Random Thoughts/Notes About the Middle East: Part 1

-Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza in September 2005.

-Gaza elected Hamas into the government in free elections in early 2006.

-Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon May 24th, 2000 succumbing to international pressure and in compliance with UN Resolution 425.

-Lebanon tasked by international community and UN Resolution 1559 to take over southern border security and disarm Hezbollah.

-After Gaza withdrawal, Israel experiences continuous rocket attacks over the Gaza border. No international acknowledgement or condemnation.

-Israel occasionally responds by targeted assassinations of terrorist leaders. Often, many civilians are killed in these attacks. Palestinian terrorists operate almost exclusively in close proximity to civilians.

-In current war with Hezbollah, Lebanon has experienced extensive civilian casualties due to Israeli attacks.

-No international condemnation of the use of civilian human shields (from Hamas, Hezbollah). The groups themselves openly acknowledge this widely used tactic. Israel is condemned internationally for every civilian it kills.

UF scientists trace origin of shark’s electric sense

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Sharks are known for their almost uncanny ability to detect electrical signals while hunting and navigating.
Now researchers have traced the origin of those electrosensory powers to the same type of embryonic cells that gives rise to many head and facial features in humans.
The discovery, reported by University of Florida scientists in the current edition of Evolution & Development, identifies neural crest cells, which are common in vertebrate development, as a source of sharks’ electrical ESP.
It also fortifies the idea that before our early ancestors emerged from the sea, they too had the ability to detect electric fields.
“Sharks have a network of electrosensory cells that allows them to hunt by detecting electrical signals generated by prey,” said Martin Cohn, a developmental biologist with the departments of zoology and anatomy and cell biology and the UF Genetics Institute. “That doesn’t mean they can only detect electric fish. They can sense electricity generated by a muscle twitch, even if it’s the weak signal of a flounder buried under sand.”
Likewise, sharks are widely thought to use the Earth’s magnetic field for navigation, enabling them to swim in precise paths across large expanses of featureless ocean, Cohn said.
“If you think of this in the big picture of evolution of sensory systems, such as olfaction, hearing, vision and touch, this shows sharks took a pre-existing genetic program and used it to build yet another type of sensory system,” Cohn said.
UF and University of Louisiana researchers analyzed electroreceptor development in the embryos of the lesser spotted catshark, an animal that is largely motionless during the day and hunts at night, mainly in the seagrass beds of the eastern Atlantic Ocean.
Using molecular tests, scientists found two independent genetic markers of neural crest cells in the animal’s electricity-sensing organs. Analysis shows these cells migrate from the brain and travel into the developing shark’s head, creating the framework for the electrosensory system — a previously unknown function of a much-studied group of cells, according to Renata Freitas, a doctoral candidate in the zoology department and first author of the paper.
The process mirrors the development of the lateral line that allows fish to mechanically sense their environment, and organs of the inner ear that enable people to keep their balance. But scientists suspect as human ancestors emerged from the sea, they discarded their lateral lines as well as their ability to sense electrical fields.
“Our fishy ancestors had the anatomy for it,” said James Albert, a former UF biologist who is now at the University of Louisiana. “You can imagine how valuable this system would be if you were aquatic, because water is so conductive. But it doesn’t work on land — air doesn’t conduct electricity as well. When it happens, it’s called a lightning bolt and you don’t need special receptors to sense it.”
All primitive animals with backbones could sense electricity, according to Michael Coates, an associate professor of organismal biology and anatomy at the University of Chicago. Mammals, reptiles and birds lost the sense over time, as did most fish alive today.
But in sharks and a few other species, such as sturgeons and lampreys, electrosensory capability endured.
“Most fish you see today have large eyes,” Coates said. “But sharks are predators that do not particularly rely on vision. If you see a hammerhead shark searching for flatfish, it moves its head back and forth, almost as if it were using a metal detector. Knowing that the electrosensory system may have developed with involvement of neural crest cells is valuable for people trying to reconstruct vertebrate evolution. It gives us further indication of how all of the various sensory systems come on line.”
But the idea that the neural crest truly is the source of the electrosensory system will raise eyebrows, scientists say.
“It’s a very interesting paper for two reasons,” said Glenn Northcutt, a distinguished professor of neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego, and a leading expert in vertebrate neurobiology. “For the first time, someone has shown which molecules may be responsible for guiding the development of the receptors of the lateral line system. I think this will hold true and is a very important finding. But I’m skeptical about the claim the neural crest gives rise to electroreceptors. It still requires a definitive experiment, where the developing neural crest cells are marked with dye, the embryo develops and the dye clearly shows up in the electroreceptors.”
Dye tests are a classical way of mapping cell movements during development, and have been used to explore the origins of limbs and brain cells. In the current research, scientists used genetic markers to trace neural crest cells.
“Dye labeling would be interesting and further test the idea that electroreceptors contain neural crest cells,” Cohn said.

Here are a couple of excerpts from of a speech Congressman Weldon of Pennsylvania delivered in front of Congress about the biggest scandal in US history -- The Able Danger cover-up and the destruction of ("whistle blower")Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer:

....What we have here, I am convinced of this now, is an aggressive attempt by CIA management to cover up their own shortcomings in not being able to do what the Able Danger team did: They identified Mohammed Atta and the al Qaeda cell of Brooklyn 1 year before 9/11. But even before that, as the story unfolds, you are going to hear the story that they also identified the threat to the USS Cole 2 weeks before the attack, and 2 days before the attack were screaming not to let the USS Cole come into the harbor at Yemen because they knew something was about to happen. Mr. Speaker, bad news never comes easy; but in a democracy, the bad news has to come out so we can make sure it does not happen again....

....So what has happened to Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, Mr. Speaker? The Defense Intelligence Agency has lifted his security clearance. One day before he was to testify before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, in uniform, they permanently removed his security clearance. And now our Defense Intelligence Agency has told Colonel Shaffer's lawyer that they plan to seek a permanent removal of his pay and his health care benefits for him and his two children. Why, Mr. Speaker? Because Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, like Commander Scott Philpot of the Navy, like J. D. Smith, and like a host of other Able Danger employees, has told the truth. Now, Mr. Speaker, I sat here in the 1990s and I sat here during the 9/11 investigation and watched a ridiculous situation develop with Sandy Berger, the National Security Adviser under President Clinton. He walked into the National Archives before he was to testify before the 9/11 Commission looking through documents. He took documents out of the archives and stuffed them in his socks and pants so that no one would see them as he left the National Archives. Now, that is a felony, tampering with Federal documents and removing classified information regarding our security and information that the 9/11 commission needed to see. Sandy Berger initially lied about it. He said he did not do it. Then he admitted it, and he was given a punishment. And, oh, by the way, his security clearance was temporarily lifted, but he will get it back again, for lying, for stealing, and for committing an act of outrage against our country's security. Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, a Bronze Star 23-year military veteran, simply told the truth and now his life is being ruined. His career is ended. He is no longer in military intelligence. They have taken his security clearance, and they are about to destroy him as a person. They are about to deny him the basic health care and the salary that he has earned, and they are doing it in this way. This is outrageous. It is evil. They do not want to fire Tony because they also do not want him to talk to the media. So by suspending him and removing his pay and his health care, they hurt him bad, but he cannot talk because he is under suspension and his lawyer has advised him that to talk to the media, to talk to Members of Congress, even when he is not being paid, would cause him further problems and totally prevent him from ever having this gross problem reversed. Mr. Speaker, this is outrageous. Mr. Speaker, this is not America. Over my 19 years in Congress, I have led 40 delegations to the former Soviet Union. I have sat in the face of the Soviet Communists and confronted them on full transparency. I sat at the table with President Lukashenko of Belarus, who has been called by our Secretary of State the last dictator in Europe. I took both delegations to North Korea, Mr. Speaker, and sat across the table from Kim Gye Gwan and I told him we abhor the way they treat their people, the way they lie about what is happening, and the way they distort information. Mr. Speaker, I took three delegations to Libya to meet with Qadhafi, and I told him that we are absolutely outraged at what Libya did in helping complete the Lockerbie bombing and the bombing of the Berlin nightclub. You know, Mr. Speaker, I never thought I would have to take the floor of this Chamber and make the same statements about the Defense Intelligence Agency. As a supporter of the President, as a supporter of the military, Mr. Speaker, if we allow this to go forward, then we send the signal to every man and woman wearing a uniform that if you tell the truth, you will be destroyed if a career bureaucrat above you does not like what you are saying. If you tell the truth, we will take your health care benefits away from your kids. If you tell the truth, we will ruin you. Mr. Speaker, this is not America. Mr. Speaker, this is not what I have been told by Secretary Rumsfeld that we are doing with our troops in protecting them, in giving them the best equipment and the best training. This is not what I spend hours in committee hearings on. This sends the wrong signal to America's troops. It tells them, do not be honest. Do not respect the fact that you have to be truthful. If there is somebody that the truth offends, then you better be silent. Mr. Speaker, I have today asked for an independent investigation of the Defense Intelligence Agency and their efforts at destroying Tony Shaffer's life. This is outrageous, Mr. Speaker....
